the non-ad3 is
BOUNDARYLESS

The designer needs to embrace all forms of knowledge and skills required for the design to become. This begins with the acknowledgement that design pervades all disciplines, and attempts to draw a boundary around it are not only futile but self-constraining. While its pervasiveness may not be under question, the designer needs to be acutely aware of the limitations and delimitations of their practice. Design is thus an act of continuous boundary setting. An amorphous boundary to begin with? Probably. But it’s extents clearly acknowledged, delineated or demarcated? Definitely.

  1. A play on the term ‘nonad’, the ‘non’ in this case refers to the French non ('no' in English). Thus, no boundaries can perhaps contain what is termed as design.
